Adirondack Information Management Inc., Amita Corporation, Artemp Personnel Services Inc., and The AlM Group Inc in Joint Venture are pleased to confirm that, as of December 19, the pre-award audit conducted by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) auditors has been completed, and the Joint Venture has again met the eligibility criteria for the Indigenous Business Directory (IBD) and been reactivated in the IBD. The Joint Venture had been removed from the IBD because the way Indigenous ownership percentage of the Joint Venture was calculated had changed. On November 28th, the Government of Canada was advised that the ownership was restructured. On December 19th, the JV was advised that it once again met the eligibility criteria and, as a result, had been reactivated in the IBD.
Background
The Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business (PSIB) and its preceding program the Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB) were designed to help Indigenous entrepreneurs and companies start and grow a business by providing them access to procurement opportunities from the Government of Canada either directly or through partnership or joint venture.
According to the Government of Canada, through partnership or joint venture, Indigenous companies can gain access to the experience, expertise, skills and resources of a non-indigenous company, which will help the indigenous companies build and develop experience, expertise, skills and resources so they may be in a position to win business and deliver services directly to the Government of Canada in the future.
The PSIB has been successful in helping many Indigenous-owned companies, including Adirondack, to grow and prosper. Thanks to Adirondack’s work with the JV, Adirondack has acquired the capacity to independently bid on and win federal government contracts. Adirondack was able to successfully apply for and be awarded a stand-alone TBIPS SA Set-Aside contracting vehicle for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 contract opportunities. To date, Adirondack has submitted bids for 17 RFPs—both set-aside and non- set-aside engagements, for clients ranging from smaller agencies to larger scale departments—and, so far, has won four of them.
Audits are regularly conducted to ensure that Indigenous businesses meet the ownership, control,
Indigenous employment and Indigenous content criteria.
About us
The AIM Group Inc. was established in 1988 and quickly grew into one of the National Capital Region’s top staffing firms for the provision of technical and engineering services for private sector clients.
In the late 1990s, The AIM Group Inc. was qualified to assist with federal government temporary staffing opportunities through a Standing Offer and Supply Arrangement (SO/SA). The AIM Group became one of the top suppliers of administrative and professional roles for the federal government.
In 2006, The AIM Group was approached by Barry Payne, an Indigenous businessperson from Hiawatha First Nation, and together built a new company, named Adirondack Information Management Inc. to pursue federal government contracts.
In the late 2000s, with The AIM Group focused on the provision of Professional Services on the business side, including Finance, Communications, Change Management and HR, Adirondack began to focus on IM/IT opportunities. This focus led to the establishment of Adirondack Information Management Inc. in a Joint Venture arrangement with The AIM Group Inc., Amita and Artemp.
Adirondack Information Management Inc. quickly established itself as a leading Indigenous vendor in the provision of quality IM/IT resources to the Government of Canada, successfully delivering multiple large-scale IM/IT initiatives and projects. Adirondack is certified by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) as majority Indigenous owned and controlled.
Members of the Joint Venture are co-located in a commercial office in downtown Ottawa and share several corporate functions including business development, marketing, bids and proposals, account management, recruiting, accounting and bookkeeping, accounts receivable and payable, invoicing, payroll and other administrative functions.
