Supply & Vendor Quality Manager

Job Description

  • Maintain and improve product quality by completing compliance and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; updating quality assurance procedures; contribute to new product and engineering designs, manufacturing and training methods.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Act as Quality Coordinator, responsible for collecting and reporting quality metrics for the Ottawa site, including but not limited to supplier performance and customer satisfaction metrics. 
  • Measure partner performance and drive continuous improvement with regular business reviews. 
  • Develop and implement a Product Quality Audit Plan for each product in manufacturing.
  • Manage the configuration/data management process (CM/DM) by implementing appropriate revision control methodologies, systematic archiving of mission-critical data, identifying appropriate tools, ensuring adequate staff training and awareness.
  • Drive contract manufacturer capability and capacity to enable on-time delivery of material to all points of consumption.
  • Manage schedule, capacity and quality issues with Contract Manufacturer(s). Communicate status and risks to management.
  • Measure partner performance and drive continuous improvement with regular business reviews.
  • Support the Supply Chain manager in tracking supplier performance, maintaining and reporting metrics.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with contract manufacturer(s), get visibility into their production planning, and strive to ensure predictable deliveries.
  • Drive a continuous improvement process at CM site(s), champion Design-For-Manufacturability initiatives, and yield improvements.

 

Required Skills

  • University degree or College Diploma, preferably in business or technology / engineering
  • Has at least 10 years working in quality assurance and / or manufacturing, ideally in the high-tech or defence / aerospace sector.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 auditing and certification.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration/data management.
  • Proven track record transitioning products from prototype to full scale manufacturing through a reliable NPI (New Product Introduction) process.
  • Has worked with MRP systems.
  • Has led continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Good business judgment and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work independently but communicate regularly.
  • Can represent the company competently and professionally to the supplier community.
  • Can create and maintain systems to manage inventory and track performance metrics.
