Weapon Systems Engineer

Job Description

COMPENSATION: To Be Negotiated

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Long Term Contract

  • Provide engineering and project management support services to the Project Manager (PM) and Technical Authority (TA).
  • Report on timely internal review of all ECP, CCP, waivers and deviations;
  • Review and provide program level input and recommendations for all ECP, CCP, waivers and deviations;
  • Prepare draft letters of acceptance, rejection or clarification requests on all ECP, CCP, waivers and deviations;
  • Obtain secretarial approval of ECPs, CCPs, waivers and deviations between PMO CCB when urgent;
  • Consult and report on the ECPs with the In-Service Equipment Management Team (EMT) and at the Directorate CCB;
  • Establish the plan and report on the First Production Vehicle inspection(s) and consult on recommended corrective actions;
  • Report on established regular Control Tests results and monitor corrective actions;
  • Report on the on-time delivery of Government Supplied Materiel (GSM) to meet PMO contractual obligations in accordance with Production schedule;
  • Review and consult on recommendations for approval of all vehicle sales waivers;
  • Establish and maintain records and provide reports on the configuration of the fleet as fielded;
  • Report and consult on OEM corrective actions and retrofit plans on the fielded fleet
  • Consult and report on project issues in preparation for Issue resolution and Program Review Meetings;
  • Review, contribute and consult on project documents for the Senior Review Board (SRB);
  • Establish and maintain the Project Risk Management Plan. Establish, consult and report on contingency and mitigation plans. Consult and report on execution of the plan.
  • Establish and maintain the Lessons Learned compendium;
  • Draft, review and consult on other key project documentation required. This includes but is not limited to: briefing notes and presentations to senior management, internal reporting or letters to the Contractor.

Required Skills

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret

  • Must have a valid Secret Clearance
  • Must have a degree from a recognized institution in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of six years of experience in last ten years in Systems engineering and Configuration management producing correspondence and briefs to support decision making for senior project staff
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the last six years in the acceptance and quality and conformance verification on complex equipment deliverables
  • A minimum of  six years of experience within the last ten years in producing correspondence and briefs to support decision making for senior project staff  on Major Crown Project(s) / Capital Project(s), or private industry equivalent, with a minimum budget of $100M.
  • Recent experience contributing to the documentation required for a Treasury Board corporate submission.
  • More than two years of engineering experience within the last 10 years on any of the following specific types of equipment:
    • Gun/weapon system
    • Electro/optics
    • Armored vehicles
    • Wheeled LAV family
