Job Description

 

  • This role reports to the North America Chief Operating Officer.
  • The candidate will cover a key engineering leadership position in the quality, production and certification of unique and specialized antenna products.
  • This new management role partners with the design and product development team in Italy, while managing a team of top electrical engineers and technicians in Canada.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and development efficiency.
  • Lead a department of approximately 15+ engineers tasked with responsibility for quality, production and certification.
  • Manage personnel, including recruitment, mentoring, training, development, performance management, and succession planning, to assure that skilled resources are available to support required functional engineering tasks.
  • Plan department resources, including monthly updating of man loading analysis, to assure appropriate assignments for personnel matching engineering skill sets and capacity to program needs.
  • Manage department expenses, including indirect expenses, to meet engineering department budget.
  • Interface, coordinate and negotiate with Suppliers.
  • Ramping innovative antenna products into high-volume manufacturing.

Required Skills

  • A Masters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 or more years of experience in the design, simulation, analysis and testing of antennas
  • 10 years' experience in Airborne Antennas simulation, design, or testing and certification, or manufacturing
  • Demonstrated critical technical and professional knowledge/skills related to the role.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant products, design techniques and methods.
  • Expands technical knowledge/skills and keeps up-to-date in own area of expertise.

 

Working knowledge of:

  • Ku-band and Ka-Band satellite communications  equipment (Wideband Global SATCOM system knowledge highly desired}, including SCPC,FDMA and MF-TDMA modems as well as RF down conversion, up conversion, power amplifiers, antennas, control software, and network management
  • Airborne SAT COM (VSAT) product production, quality and certification requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in ramping antenna products into high-volume manufacturing
